We have been getting rescue hens for some years now and they are proving popular with our visitors, especially children. The ‘girls’ are free to roam over all 3 acres and it doesn’t take them long to find their feet. Finding the eggs can be a problem but some of the girls are compliant and lay eggs in the nest boxes Feel free to throw them any scraps - they like cooked rice but turn their beaks up at pasta! If children wish to feed them with corn, just ask for a bag. Here is one of our new arrivals, who has spent her life in a cage so far. She’s just beginning to find out the delights of running about on grass and eating it!
An old girl looks on and thinks,“Did I ever look like that?”
